Top News Of The Day: 84-Year-Old Activist Stan Swamy Dies

Stan Swamy, an 84-year-old priest-activist arrested under an anti-terror law in the Elgar Parishad case last year, died today in the middle of his fight for bail on health grounds. The Jesuit priest had been on a ventilator since yesterday when his health took a sharp turn for the worse; Petrol and diesel prices were hiked across the four metro cities on Monday, July 5, according to data released by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). In the national capital, petrol prices are inching towards the century mark; the prices were hiked by 35 paise from Rs 99.51 per litre to Rs 99.86 per litre; Karnataka, one of the worst hit states by the second wave of COVID-19 in the country, has decided to lift many restrictions from today and other top stories.
