Thousands Evacuated In Gujarat, Maharashtra Due To Cyclone Tauktae; Other Top Stories

Thousands of people - including Covid patients - in Gujarat and Maharashtra have been moved to safety because of Cyclone Tauktae, which will reach the Gujarat coast this evening. Senior virologist Shahid Jameel has quit as chief advisor to centre's Covid genome surveillance project. He recently wrote a piece in which he had said that scientists in India are facing "stubborn response to evidence-based policy making." An anti-coronavirus drug developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will be launched today, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to distribute 10,000 doses to some hospitals in the national capital.
