5 States Asked To Expedite Vaccination Of Frontline Staff, Other Top Stories

The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday wrote to five states that have reported a daily surge in new coronavirus cases and asked them to expedite vaccination of healthcare staff and frontline worker Primary schools in Haryana open today for the students from class 3 to 5 after almost a year. Telangana too is reopening schools from classes 6 to 8. In other news, Bengal BJP leader Rakesh Singh, whom the party's youth-wing leader Pamela Goswami named in a drugs case, was arrested in East Burdwan district. Disha Ravi, the 22-year-old climate change activist charged with sedition after being arrested February 13 in connection with a "toolkit" relating to the farmers' protest, walked out of Delhi's Tihar Jail late Tuesday night, hours after she was granted bail. The BJP won by a landslide in the Gujarat urban civic polls today as votes were counted for hundreds of seats across six municipal corporations, including Ahmedabad and Vadodara.
